George Townsend was as great a gentleman as anyone would care to meet. As a young fellow it was he, who inspired me to become a Game Warden myself.
George was a personal friend of the family, he sometimes stayed with us in the winter when flying wardens in Southern Maine. We would vacation with George, his wife Louise, sons, David and Steve in the Rangeley area during the summer months
George gave me my 1st plane ride, as a small tyke, and I have never forgotten the thrill.
Later years I was able to be a member of his department, and every year I recalled the pilot who inspired me to follow a dream! R.I.P. my friend. You may be gone but NOT FORGOTTEN.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 57th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
