Your heroism and service is honored today, the 73rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Your sacrifice was made so many years ago. Evil was, is, and will be a part of life just as goodness such as yours will also be present. To have you killed on the first day of your career must have devastated your family.

Rest In Peace

James Walter Thornton was my father's twin brother. He was killed before I was born, but his memory was never left to die. My father spoke of him often, with a tear in his eye.

Thank you so much for this memorial.

Sir, I find it particularly tragic that you courageously served the people of St. Petersburg for only one day. You are remembered and live on in our hearts. Rest in peace.

No brave Officer such as yourself should be without a reflection. I am honored to be the first to leave one here for you. Rest in peace, hero.
