Your heroism and service is honored today, the 46th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

It is so nice to see that officers from your agency are seeing that you are still remembered, and the highway named after you is a great honor.
Rest In Peace

Toby, I deeply apoligize for it being so long before anyone from your dept has signed this page. I never knew you,but I work for the same dept in the 911 center (unheard of in your day I'm sure). I'm sorry your wife had passed on before the memorial was placed in front of the court house in yours and your law enforcement brothers honor. But I have met your son who was 8 yrs old at the time of yor death, and he now has a picture of his father in uniform-something he said he never had till now. That same picture along with a picture of your "brother" from our dept- Dep Jeff Matheny- now hangs in the hallway in our lobby to honor you both. I place something at your name at the LAW ENFORCEMENT MEMORIAL in Washington DC every year that I am able to go. It has become my personal goal to make sure that you and any other officer from our dept NEVER be forgotten. My husband has just recently gotten the approval and the go ahead from the Co. Commissionerss and from Dept of Trans., Yours and Jeff's name will decorate a portion of Hwy 55 coming into New Bern to honor you and make sure the citizens of Craven Co remember your sacrifice. I pray that you rest in peace and keep an eye on your brothers and sisters that wear a badge. May we always:
