Reflections for Patrolman Anthony Taddeo, Jr.

Today is December 10th 2012 and you would have been 63 today. 33 years have passed and I miss you so much today as I have for every birthday and anniversary of your death for the past 33 years. You would be so proud of your children and the beautiful grandchildren they have given you and Mary. Mary is a great grandma but it hurts me so that your not here becasue as you were a great Dad you would have loved your grandchildren so much. I know you are watching over all of us and please rest in peace. You did a great job while you were here. I love you.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 33rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. Thanks to your family for sharing their memoiies and devotion t you through their reflections.

Tony, you have been gone now for 33 years and my heart still hurts from missing you. It was so unfair to lose you when we had so much life to still live together. I know you are at peace and I know that you look down and smile on your sons and grandchildren but it would have been so much fun to experience it all in real life. I love you very much and give Dad a big hug for me because I know he is truly happy to be with you too. Until we are together again, I love you.

Today is June 3, 2011 and it has been 32 years since you left us. Tony, I miss you so much and my heart still hurts from the loss of my big brother. I am so sorry that your boys and all your grandchildren have missed out on having you in their lives. I'm sure you are looking down on everyone and have been there for us when we needed you even though we didn't see you. Until it is my turn to be back with you like Dad and Mom are now, know that I love you and miss you terribly- Your sister Roe.

Today is Easter Sunday and I sit and reflect upon the times that Anthony and I would go to the park in ossining for an easter egg hunt. It is odd because today both he and I do the same thing with our children although in different parts of the world. I can be for certain that many times today you have crossed both our minds and touched our hearts. Thank you for giving me such a great big brother!!! I love you more than words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

30 years later and still no words to express the loss i feel. You took my heart a piece with you when you left that has never returned. They say i am just like you but i don't believe it, you were one of a kind. I used to fear that one day i would forget you but as i get older i see more of you as look in the mirror than me. I am done for now i can not see the keys through my tears.

i love you dad

I said a little prayer today for Patrolman Taddeo and his family. He may be gone but never forgotten. He will always be a New York HERO.

I just came across this site today 7-9-08 and this is my brother. He was the best brother, son, father, but most of all he was my best friend. A piece of my heart has been missing since he left us 29 years ago but he is now with our Dad who he loved with all his heart. Tony, I love you and I will meet up with you again one day.

We served together for almost eight years. Tony and I were not only police partners, we were also partners in small business for two years. We were close friends. Our children were the same age. I retired from the force two years after Tony's passing. I know his death led to that decision.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
