September 21, 1872, The last business meeting for Utah lodge U.D. of Free and Accepted Masons reads, “ On the motion it is resolved the name of the lodge be changed from Utah Lodge U.D. to Story Lodge No. 4 in respect to the memory of the late Brother William Rufus Story who was assassinated in Grantsville, Utah on May 2nd 1870.” Rest in peace my Brother, our Lodge stills stands and honors your service.

Your heroism and service is honored today as we approach the 139th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.
My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was shot twice when ambushed on April 23rd when he was on a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, 135 years after you were killed.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.
