I never got to know you granddaddy but I know you were a hero and still are in the eyes of your family and the town of St. Matthews. Grandma Stabler was a wonderful grandma and I stayed with her a lot. She was a wonderul lady and person inside and out. I am sure she missed you very much. She never remarried. I know that one day we will meet and I am excited to get the chance to know you then. Thank you for being the hero you were but it is sad that I did not get to know you. Love your granddaughter. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 67th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I was borned and raised in Saint Matthews, I never knew that we had a fallen officer. I started my career here and I feel a connection to Officer Stabler. I am a thirteen year veteran and am proud to be an officer that wears the same uniform that this fallen officer wore.
