Your heroism and service is honored today, the 62nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Patrolman Smith, though your memorial says the exact date of the incident is not known, today is the day listed for your End of Watch. Today marks the 57th anniversary of your passing. Thank you for your service to the Commonwealth.
I find it especially tragic that a small town like Stockbridge lost two officers on the same date just six short years.
God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
