I never knew Officer Shows. I've never been to California, but I am retired from a Sheriff's Dept in Indiana and saw this posting. Just wanted to leave my prayers to the family of this brave hero who undoubtedly lost a wonderful husband, father, and human being. Godspeed to you all.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 47th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

My daddy died when I was just 4 years old. A drunk driver who only got six months for killing my dad and another man. I miss him so much, even to this day. Our life as we knew it died that day too. Everything changed. I am looking so forward to being with him again.

Jerrel Shows was a cousin of mine. I do not remember him as I was only 6 years old when this tragedy occurred. His devasted mother, my great aunt and a very dear lady, is still alive. I know how much this has affected her for the last 37 or so years. How much it also affected Jerrl's wife and children. May he rest in peace and may God continue to place his comforting hand on Jerrel's family. I wish I had the chance to know him. Steve Ramsey
