Your heroism and service is honored today, the 82nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I have had the opportunity during my career to understand the joys and dangers of being a Police Officer. The dangers are obvious, especially the dangers of being a motor officer. The joys are a little tougher to explain to a civilian. I know you enjoyed your job as a motor officer as much as I enjoyed my time doing that job. I was lucky enough to ride a motorcycle for my department for almost five years. During that time while riding, I took you with me to work everyday. I did this by putting on my uniform and putting on my "In memory of" bracelet with your name and EOW stamped on it. This was my daily ritual and something I enjoyed because I knew you were at home being back on patrol. I know you were there watching over me, protecting me against a fate similar to your own. I thank you for your service long before I was born, and I thank you for looking out for me.
May you rest in peace.
