In honor and memory of Robert (to us his family, Bobby Joe) Schultea who died in August of 1956 while serving his community... I still remember the phone call and my mother's cry as she heard the news... we have a large but very close family and the news of one of our fave family members needless untimely death shook our family to the core!!! My aunt, his mom, never recovered from his death and mourned his loss until her dying day. He was so loved and loving... he would have given you the shirt off his back. He left a young wife and a young son who grew up not knowing the awesome man that was his father. Why do tragedies like this have to happen is still so impossible to understand for us his family who still have tears in our eyes over his memory and our loss even all these years after his death. Just watched him in a home movie just the other day and my aunt backed it up several times as tears filled our eyes seeing him alive again as he was departing on a family vacation and as we all waved goodbye. So to those who have lost beloved members of their family in the line of duty also we sympathize with you and share your grief. We truly understand and thank God for the precious memories that we hold on to even as time marches on for all but the ones left behind. In reflection our loss was tragic and difficult but we know he would go and serve all over again if he were here today because he was dedicated and proud to be serving to protect his community and his city as a Houston Police Officer.
