To my great-grandfather, Frederick Schlehuber:
Your daughter Edythe married Albert Roth one year after your death. They had two sons, Elmer and Harold. Elmer was my father. While growing up we were forbidden from asking Edythe about you and your death, as it was too upsetting.

I just want you to know that I became a San Francisco Police Sergeant (1984-2011) and was assigned star #719. Today a friend sent me this memorial to you, and I see you wore badge #719. I can only hope I served your legacy well.

Sgt. Schlehuber, in a place most would consider reasonably safe, a piece of trash took your life. Whatever became of him are not listed here, but we can only hope that he faced true justice for his crimes, if not in this life, then in the next.

You are a hero and have not been forgotten. God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

No officer should be without a reflection. I send this one to thank you for giving the ultimate sacrifice and for paving the way for the future for us to follow, on the thin blue line. Thank you.
