Dear Grandpa, I am your granddaughter Alexis. My dad, your son just passed. I am 11 and my brother Hunter, your grandson is 14. I have always wanted to meet you. You look so much like my dad. I hope you two are in heaven watching over us. When I read what my dad and mom wrote it made me so happy. I am gonna meet you one day and i'm gonna give the biggest hug of all time. I cannot help but wonder if you are proud of me, hope you are, I try.

Your heroism and service is honored today on the 45th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.
My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
How wonderful that you son was able to visit this site and see a photograph of you for the first time and to be able to see the likeness between father and son.
Rest In Peace.

After many years, the wondering is over as I view your picture. It is as though I am looking in the mirror and seeing myself. I have heard stories of our likeness over the years and they are true. I hope that the joy of being your son and in your life for such a short time brought you immeasurable pride and happiness. You live on though through me and your grandson and we will always be connected. I have done my best to be a good man, your son Carl jr

I cannot believe how much he looks like my husband who had never seen a picture of his father until now. Carl William Schaufelberger Jr. was adopted after the death of his father, who passed when he was only 1 mo old. He looks like a very distinguished young man I only wish I could have known him, my own father is also a police officer and I understand that anything can happen in the line of duty. God rest his soul and peace be with his family. I will show my son this memorial, when he is old enough, and let him know what a good man his grandfather was. An officer serving his community is a very honorable person.
would have been my father in law

I grew up in Morris County...fortunately not normally thought of as a haven for crime. You remind us that ANYTHING can happen during a tour, and to take nothing for granted.
Thank you for your service....
