Reflections for Police Officer Donald W. Sager

This is for David.
We served in the Military Police Corps years ago when you shared the story of your father.
No amount of time can replace your loss but nor the pride and honor in the service and ultimate sacrifice your father made for the citizens of Baltimore.

As I age, I begin to seriously question the existence of life hereafter especially regarding our current state of evil throughout the world. I feel confident in saying that if this murder happened in another state with capital punishment during that time, this murderer probably would have been executed- "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth". I was called years ago by Baltimore States Attorney's' Office back when Conway was trying to have the case "retried" due improper jury instructions from the judge. I believe their reluctance to "retry" the case was based upon, obviously, the lack of people (retired, deceased, etc.), ergo, SA Office did not pursue the case again and succumbed to the political climate "du jour" thereby letting this murder walk free again.

Perhaps also, the fight wasn't worth risking their jobs and careers for?

Yes, we're in the "information age"- so many good things, but, so much more lies, manipulation and very clever willful deception.

My late grandmother (Eva Anita Capps) used to say something about only needing the amount faith of a mustard seed.
By the time I die, that's probably all I have left.

As it stands now, this pestilence (aka, Marshall E Conway) has finally vanished from our world as we know it.
Where the Maryland justice system failed, nature finally prevailed.

Thanks be to God, Amen...

It feels crazy that so many years have gone by since Baltimore Officer Donald Sager was ambushed along with his partner and Donald Sager killed.
I am a "Sager" and was born in Baltimore Maryland in May of 1949. My family left Baltimore due to my father being transferred to Kansas City Missouri with the Department of the US Treasury and I was 5 years old then.
I served two deployments to the Vietnam War, 1968-69 & 1970-71. When I returned, I was appointed to the Kansas City Missouri Police Department, a Missouri State Controlled Department, with no city involvement or say-so. I served 26 years on the department and during that time, we lost 15 officers on the job.
Our Chief, Clarence M. Kelly, was stolen away by the president in 1974 and appointed "Director of the FBI," "Back when we could trust them."
I know what it feels like to lose members of a police family. The pain and memory is always there.
I didn't know Donald Sager but my father said they were most likely related. I was adopted in Baltimore and I am a Blood "Cellinese."
Please, all of you officers, be careful. These are bad times for law enforcement and extremely dangerous.
:> Christopher Sager//(Michael Cellinese) Retired-Kansas Cirt Missouri Police Department.

I was a rookie police officer with BCPD, Central District, Sector 1. I often partnered with Don Sager on patrol. He was a quiet, gentle soul, but steadfast in his attention to duty. I was off that night for the beginning of vacation time. I had traded a day with the other officer shot that evening, Stanley Sierakowski. I often wondered, what if? 50 years ago. RIP.

While I'm not happy one your killers were released we have to remember that at least he spent 40 years in prison. It's not what was wanted but at least it is something.

R..I.P. my brother. I, for one, will NEVER forget what happened! I was in the first car to respond and arrive at the scene of your shooting. I honestly do not know how I was able to retain my composure while protecting the crime scene!

I miss you and Grandmom. Your killer was released and I'm so upset to hear he wasn't living his life in prison after taking away my grandfather. I wish I could have had the opportunity to grow up and know you. From what I hear you were an amazing dad, husband, and police man

My heart goes out to Officer Sager's family , friends & fellow Officers during this very differcult time of a possible release of the low life that killed Officer Sager. Many survivors would have been at the hearing this week, but we were not notified.
May God's light surround all

Well, I never met my grandfater. But I hear good things from my Dad and Grandmom about him, and how I inhereted his bright blue eyes. I have so much respect for him, although I don't know who he is, really. I wish I could've grown up with him in my life. Hopefully one day I will meet him in Heaven. I thank and appreciate him for what he's done, and I'm so happy that so many people do also.

Love you and Miss you Granddad. <3
