I am the Grandaughter of SGT JAMES RYAN SR, he gave his life when I was only 11 yrs old, I remember it like it was yesterday......I remember my mom getting a call that he had been shot, I begged and cried to the LORD for him not to die, but it was my PAWPAW RYAN's time to be with the LORD......You will NEVER hear an ill word about him and to this day is is still keeping watch over us......I love youand will see you again.....

James Ryan Sr. is my grand-father whom I never met because someone took his life in 1968. My father, James Ryan Jr. told me about what a great man he was. He loved serving as a police officer. A lot of folks remember when this happened and have shared with me what they recall about that terrible day. God bless all the families that have lost loved ones and may they never be forgotten.

our heroism and service is honored today, the 43rd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

While I never had the privilege of knowing my Great-Grandfather, I am still proud of his dedication to his community and family. My family still seeks answers regarding his murder. If anyone has any information, please contact your local police agency or the Kentucky State Police.

being a police officer is not an easy job. This man was probably in fear of his life, but died bravely. what a courageous man, to die in such honor. It is a shame that all these men and women die, and nobody knows about the life that they left behind. I thnk god everyday that we live in America, and that there are men and women protecting me, and my family everyday. It has not come easy.
