I was the South Pasadena POA President 30 years ago and researched this through stories in the South Pasadena Review at the South Pas Library. Actually, as I recall, Rogers chased the speeder down the Arroyo Parkway and crashed into a utility pole near present day Alpine and Sunset. No helmets then, just a leather cap. His widow Daisy still lived in Pasadena and attended the dedication ceremony around 1988. We put a bronze plaque on the outside of the police station and had a photo of Officer Rogers and his motorcycle - one in the station and we gave another to the South Pasadena Historical Society. His name is on the memorial in Washington DC as well.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 64th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
