The Book: You Can't Win by Jack Black references the murder of this police officer on Page 157. The writer names a criminal who went by the name of St. Louis Frank as the person who was hanged in San Quentin.
Jack Black was a small time criminal himself who wrote the book.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 109th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never dimishes respect, not even 109 years.
