Charlie Roberts was my great-grandfather so I never got to meet him. His grandson, my father, R. Edwards Coulter (Baton Rouge Dispatch) and his grandson, Paul A. Coulter, asked me to continue remembering their grandfather by attending the yearly Peace Officers Memorial held in Columbus, GA. Now that my father and uncle and the other two grandsons have passed, I also remember Poppa and Uncle Paul when I place the flower. Wish my great grandfather could have had the chance to know his grandkids. They were great guys.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 113th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Your sacrifice was made so many years ago. Evil was, is, and will be a part of life just as goodness such as yours will also be present. Historically, I preferred a time where an execution didn't take place decades after the sentence was rendered.
Rest In Peace
