Reflections for Sheriff Vernon Reaves
Sheriff Reaves,
On today, the 75th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army in Europe fighting the Germans during World War II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 64th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Your memory will always be honored and revered for time never diminishes respect.

As a former deputy with Lavaca County, I wanted to take a moment on the anniversary of Sheriff Reaves' untimely death to remember him.
Sir, you are still not forgotten, even now, 58 years later. May your family always know that you served your country and the State of Texas with pride, and may they also know that you are and always will be remembered as a hero.
Rest in Peace, Sheriff.

What a surprise to stumble upon your website and find that my uncle is pictured here! Of course, he died long before I was born, but up until now I had never seen a really good picture of him. My Dad always spoke so highly of his little brother - it warms my heart to know that he has not been forgotten.
