This was my Grandfather that I never got to meet. He died while trying to provide for his family. I’ve always been told he was an honest and fair man.

Today was the first workout for the newly merged BRC and Breakout FWC LEO class 37. As a fitting way to start a new team and comradery, we participated in a memorial workout honoring Officer Marvin “Dickie” Albritton. As officers in training we aspire to lead by example, to put our best self forward, a share our passion for Florida Conservation.

Officer Marvin, “lived and breathed” his job as a wildlife officer and today we remember our fellow officer by working hard to continue his passion.

Class 37 remembers the service and the sacrifice.

Today, FWC Class 28 will participate in a physical conditioning program in memory of Officer Marvin Albritton in order to honor and reflect upon the sacrifice he and his family have made. It is only through the rigors of physical conditioning that we may attempt to understand the path of selflessness you walked down throughout your service to this great state. May you continue to rest in peace as we train and do our best to honor what you chose to stand for and protect. You are not forgotten..

On this date 48 years ago, you set out to start your shift by loading your airboat after another had borrowed your trailer, as everyone back then did not have both. You left the house after drinking coffee, with your daughter Marti in tow, just like any other day. But on this date a great change would occur, on this date you would leave this earth ( Mathew 5.9 -"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.) never again shall you be called anything but a great man, a loving Husband and Father of 2 beautiful girls. To this day you are forever remembered and never forgotten. Today the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, has devoted this week in remembrance of your dedication. We also ask that you family and friends remember that our family is always here for your family, as we are one. RIP Uncle Dickie

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 47th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for the solace of all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their devotion to you through their reflections.
