Reflections for Trooper Thomas L. Pryme
Trooper Pryme,
On today, the 41st anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Navy as a crewman on the aircraft carrier USS Hancock(CVA-19)during the Vietnam War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

In a few days it will mark the 40th anniversary of Trooper Thomas L. Pryme's ultimate sacrifice, and we continue to honor him by keeping his memory alive. I had honored Trooper Pryme's sacrifice over my career by coordinating and participating in hundreds of DWI details, and by arresting hundreds of DWI operators beginning in 1981 while stationed at SP Ogdensburg - Troop B.
Trooper Pryme will never be forgotten.

I remember Trooper Tom Pryme's death like it was yesterday. His daughter was in my second grade classroom the following year, and how hard it was to see the pain in Karen and in her mom and brother as well. So unfair to have lost a dad, a husband at such a young age. My sympathy extends across the years to his wife and children, and also to the grandchildren who never knew him.

Trooper Pryme was assigned to me as my silent partner while attending the state trooper police academy in 2019. I carried his card in my pocket everyday in the academy and also on patrol as a trooper. Although I left the state police for another agency I still carry his card with me in my left breast pocket everyday I go on patrol so I know he is always watching my six. Rest easy Trooper

I saw your memorial today in the Raybrook Trooper barracks. My favorite memory of you was when you stopped by our house on your Harley. You were bigger than life and so handsome! A big grin and a kind word for a young man. Then you took off louder than thunder, gripping those ape hanger handle bars, and my dad smiling in admiration of our neighbor, the man's man, Trooper Tom Pryme. Gone too soon, but never forgotten.

Mrs. Pryme,
It has been a long time but I wanted you to know that said a prayer for Mr. Pryme today. I am the head coach for my daughter's squirt hockey team and we went to a tournament this weekend. It made me fondly reflect on image of Mr. Pryme screaming for joy.
Sincerely,
Dan Carey
