I'm honored to be the great nephew of Officer Porter and I keep him in mind when I get ready for work. I remind myself that I will do everything in my power to go home safely at the end of my shift and that I will serve my community with integrity and a strong sense of duty like my Uncle Dewey. He is a source of inspiration for me and I hope to honor his memory by protecting my family and my community from those who would do us harm. God Bless you Uncle Dewey and thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Rest in Peace.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 57th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Rest In Peace.
