I can remember my late grandfather telling us (his grandkids) about his father, Fredrick C Porter. He was just a boy when his father was in the accident, but he could remember that day as though it was yesterday. He never told me the story with out showing emotion. It has been years since I came across my Great grandfather’s newspaper article. My grandfather was at the ceremony. If I would have been an adult then I would have been honored to be there with my grandfather to remember his father. It's very rare these days to find anyone who would help selflessly in any situation. We are very proud of what our great grandfather accomplished and the giving heart he must have had. Thank you.

This memorial is so nice to see. I obviously never got to meet my great grandfather, but it is heart-warming to see that his sacrifice is remembered and that he is honored for his call to duty.
My daughter, Brigid, found this site. She never knew of him until reading this. She says, "It is nice to know that people out there will know of the police officers who died during their duty. It is also nice to know that somebody will know of my great great grandfather."

For 17+ years I left briefing and walked past your plaque on the station wall. I had looked at it many times. I will not forget the ultimate sacrafice that you made.
