Your heroism and service is honored today, the 26th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I am glad to see that justice was rendered in your case.

Vince, to say that I knew you personally means that I saw you at Central Records from time to time.

Although we were not personally associated you were the 4th officer killed after I came on the Police Department and it was devastating.

I endured your funeral and your wifes visible grief, which was heartbreaking.

Like everyone else here I searched for that scum bag Flint Gregory Hunt. When he was finally captured we all felt a pang of relief because we thought that he would be on the wing for years.

I celebrated his execution and I felt a sense of justice. Getting justice did not bring you back but I still enjoyed his execution.

My only regret is that I did not know you better than saying hello in passing.

Vince:
I cannot believe that no one for the BPD has written anything in your honor. I can tell you we looked for days for your killer - some of us slept, most didn't, but we were all deeply saddened. Perhaps, no one has written because it was such a dark time in our careers. I will never forget your Dad at your funeral.

I was very difficult to bury you without having your murderer in custody. But he eventually got caught, convicted and executed.

I want you to know that many of us still talk about you and about that cold, dark, senseless day. Because of your sacrifice we finally got back and front vests.

Vince- we honor you, we miss you, and I think a part of all who worked with you died with you that terrible, dark day.

Rest in peace my friend

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Vince,
I remember the times we used to spend together when you and Ed came to my house when David was dating my sister. We all used to go together and have fun at Hart-Millers Island fishing in a boat. Who's boat was it? I can't remember that was so long ago. I mentioned you a couple months back to some friends of mine here in VA. Although it has been a long time since I was in Maryland (I live in Virginia now), I was glad to be in MD when your accused was put to death. It was a long time coming. Rest in peace for all of eternity. May God continue to bless those you left behind.

We ask Thy blessings and eternal rest to all our brothers and sisters
Who have sacrificed their very lives in the performance of
their duties. Give their loved ones the peace and
Strength to bear the anguish of their loss. Remove all
resentment from their hearts, knowing that eternal
peace and rest will abide their departed loved ones
forever. This we beg, Thy name forever and ever,
Amen.

Officer Adolfo,
Thank you for your service to the citizens of Baltimore and this country. It took twelve more years, but your murderer finally got what he deserved.

Vincent, you were a warrior and fought a courageous battle in the streets of Baltimore. I honor you my brother. I am perplexed as to why nobody from the BPD or your community has honored you . . . it is inexcusable!
