Reflections for Police Officer Andrew T. Peterson
Patrolman Peterson, you are remembered. Ptlm. Peterson was acting in his official capacity at the time but was at home off duty eating dinner with his wife and children. His shift was to start in an hour. He heard the disturbance near his residence and grabbed his police uniform jacket and hat and went to investigate. His spouse begged him to stay and finish his dinner. His last words to his family were "I will do my duty." Words he lived and died by. Rest Easy Brother........

Officer Peterson, on this 135th "anniversary" of your untimely departure, I'd like to reiterate something I said several years ago while visiting this site and leaving you a reflection. Your actions that day define a true hero and not only did you give your life to save another, you quite possibly saved several lives that day. You left an amazing legacy for the incredible men and women who currently serve on such an incredible police department today and please know that no passage of time will ever erase your service and sacrifice. Rest in peace always knowing that you will always be remembered.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 127th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

Officer Peterson, there are not too many actions that can define heroism any more than yours does that evening 122 years ago. By giving your own life, you saved one and possibly countless others. Your actions and sacrifice that evening will never be forgotten. Rest in peace always sir.

My thoughts were with you on the anniversary of your passing. What you did that day 121 years ago was supremely heroic, and you are remembered and honored.

It has been almost 121 years since your death, but I think about your fairly often after stumbling across an old article about your passing. You must have been a brave man to attempt to protect that woman, and your actions that day certainly saved her life. Unfortunately, they cost you your own, but your heroism is not forgotten.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003). Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend recently. Deputy Jeffery Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.
I want to honor all of those who gave their life in the line of duty. Although your death was many many years ago, you are still a hero.
God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.
...Gone, but never Forgotten....
