I was one the investigating officers on scene. I actually found his police shield which was thrown hundred or so feet from where he was struck. The perp was initially saying he didn’t have police ID , killed on line off duty RIP Dt myron Parker

Your selfless and courageous actions that day surely prevented civilian injuries and death and you are undoubtedly a true hero for that. Rest in peace always knowing that your service and sacrifice will be remembered by your law enforcement brethren.

That was a bad day for N.Y.C. I remember the call over the radio...but already you were on your way to a better place, to watch over your loving family, friends, and us. May you continue to rest in peace my brother. May your family always be blessed, and know that you were not taken away from them in vain, but as a true hero that made a difference.

It was my honor to research newspapers, magazines, online & books to find your ID CARD Photo. I found this photo in a 1987 New York Post Article about your heroic sacrifice. I felt it was necessary to have a photo on this website so that your family & friends can remember you. Rest Easy Hero! Always Remembered!

My uncle I miss you so much words can't express how much I do. I hope you are proud of me as much as I am of you. Hope you see your sister up there in heaven because she missed you a lot too. Love you with all my heart, wish we had more memories, but I do cherish the ones I have of us. Love you uncle

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 22nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for the solace of all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Thank you all for maintaining this website. Myron was my cousin and I miss him dearly. My fond memories of Myron and his wonderful smile and demeanor will always be with me. We played together as children. My memories of him are frozen in time now, so a part of him will always be with me. I hope that the drunk driver has learned from his mistakes and speaks to others about choices and their impact on themselves and others.

Myron, it's been over 23 years since we were in the Academy together, since we shared some laughs and smiles in my backyard celebrating our graduation. It's nice to know that you will be there on post to greet me on my arrival to the "big precinct"

Just wanted to say hello to you Myron, and let you know that you are always in our minds and hearts. Everytime i see or hear news about the NYPD i always think of you and how proud you were to be a New York City Cop. I often wonder what life you be like if you were still here. I was a boy when you knew me but i've become a man now and many things i do to this day i think thats what Myron would have done and i just smile. My family talks about you all the time. It wasn't to long ago that we came across some pictures of you and my sister in Bermuda. I justed wanted to say a little hello to a man that i admired and show you that you will never be forgotten.
