Ed was an excellent flight instructor, but moreover he was an all-around great human being. Although I was sworn as a special deputy with the Duval County Office of the Sheriff under Dale Carson, I never served directly with Ed but knew him best as a fellow pilot and instructor. To Iris and the girls I send my regards and best wishes.

On 5/9/1969 I booked Ed for a dual flight in C172 N8376U at the old Imeson Airport in Jacksonville (Home of Southeastern Aviation),as I had lost confidence in crosswind landings. My log book shows that we did 11 xwind takeoffs and landings in one hour. Till this day I remember this flight as it was instrumental in me regaining confidence as a student pilot. I had no further trouble xwind ever in a 18,000 hour flight career as a pilot and flight instructor, thanks to Ed Parker my Hero, Master Flight Instructor.

Ed Parker was really a nice guy. Loved his job, his family and flying. Ed and I flew together many times, out of the Shell FBO at old Jacksonville Imeson Municipal Airport. We shared duties with the flying club based there. Our families shared meals.
Rest in Peace Ed.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 39th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

My father-in-law and Officer Parker's mother were brother and sister. I have been priviledged to meet his daughter Linda recently on facebook and look forward to a face to face meeting. My heart aches for her growing up without a father. Such a tragic loss. A hero you will always be Eddie Parker, rest in peace.

Officer Parker,
Your sacrifice is not forgotten, as your legacy lives on to this day.
Thank you for performing your job, and performing it well. As with so many other officers, your life was all too brief.
RIP Sir.

My dearest Daddy,
Sometimes I feel like a nine year old child all over again when I hear about other children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. I weep for their loss because I know the pain and grief they will endure.
My hero in life has and will always be you. You gave your life for a stranger and that is the biggest gift one may give to another besides love. I love you and miss you so terribly much and can only wait until the day we are both walking on God's streets of gold laughing once more together.
Thank you to whomever leaves a tribute on this site. God bless you and may He always walk with you.

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
