I recently ran across pictures of Oran "Nanny" Pape who was my Great Great Uncle, my mother Rosemary Nancy "Bennett" Ohde (deceased) was his Neice (her Mother, my Grandmother, Wealtha Paula Pape Bennett was Oran's Sister.
I'm extremely thankful that Oran "Nanny" has a Bldg. and Bridge which bear the Pape name in rememberance of his service and giving his life in the line of duty. I want to visit a piece of family history and honor his memory.

Rest in Peace. My mother was Ruth Mary Pape (1913-2005) and she often spoke of him and kept the newspaper clipping of his fatal confrontation. Coincidentally, my high school athletic director, Mike Farroh, played college football with him. During a drive to Arizona I saw the bridge by Des Moines, Iowa, bearing the Pape name...very touching.
