12 years ago I left a reflection asking you to look after me, the lawman born the day you died. On 2/1/18, I finished my watch. Standing up. Thank you for watching out for me. I get to stay home with my family and enjoy my retirement. And not a day goes by that I forget those who never will.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 48th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

Marshal Painter,

The day you died was the day another cop was born into this world. I was the child born and became the man that is that cop. For every cloud of darkness, there is a ray of light. Look down upon me and help to keep me safe. Help me be the best cop I could be and thank you for your service here on earth.
