The Georgia State Patrol Will be honoring Trooper Mack Page, which is his correct name, on October 20th 2014. Colonel Mark McDonough began a campaign to ensure that Georgia's fallen troopers would be remembered by the public and law enforcement by having memorial signs placed on state highways. This would be done so that those who pass these signs will know that a trooper or GBI agent has given his life in the service of others.
I am honored to have been given the task of planning Trooper Page's dedication. He was a father of two boys, a son, and a husband who never got to see his children grow up, or to see the love of his wife as each day passed. It's the human side of the death of not just a trooper, but a person that was loved and gave love. Mack died in a patrol car accident while going to assist a fellow trooper. That says volumes about who he was. He set aside his own safety to go to the aid of a brother. I am the Post Commander of Post #27 Blue Ridge. I walk the halls of the same post that Trooper Page served from. I see his picture with several others on the wall who have made the ultimate sacrifice. It's a reminder of great men who believed so deeply in the protection of others that they paid with their lives. Let us never forget Mack along with our brothers and sisters that have given their all.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 44th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
