To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 51rst anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Not only was he a dedicated police officer but alsoo a dedicated family man to his wife, Betty and children, Lisa and Mike. A hole was blown through our family by the man who shot John that can never be filled.

I was blessed to know John and rode on patrol with him on various occassions. John had a, "Super" sense of humor, you could always depend upon John for a few good laughs before the shift was over with. John was a very laid back man, not much up-set him, easy going and a delight to be around. He made an impact upon all who were blessed to know him and I consider it an honor to have served with him and called him, my friend. RET. OPD Sgt. Tom LeBlanc, from 1961 to 1986.
