Dear Daddy Gene,
It is almost end of summer 2015 in Mansfield Texas. This year had its full madness of sadness. Mother your beautiful wife left this world on January 7 2015 with a great amount of pain from the devils work CANCER. We miss and cry for her. The only comfort is knowing she is reunited with her true love and that you both are together forever. Love you both so much..your youngest daughter Pamela that never got to hug and kiss you.

Every year since 2009 I have made the blue ribbons with the 51 names of the Oakland Police Officers who have died in the line of duty. It is my honor to do this for the fallen officers. The ribbons hang on a tree outside the Warehouse Bar and Grill in Oakland, California for all to see the sacrifice they have made to keep us safe. God bless you all and rest in peace.

A grateful citizen

Rest in Peace, Officer Oneto. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.

Dear Daddy Gene, today you are still missed and loved, 58 years after that tragic day that when your light was extinguished. We think of you often. I would like to thank Officer Larry Lasater's mother for her kind thoughts and invitation. My father's young wife (my mother) is 83 years old now, and spent the last 58 years without the closeness of his affection and laughter. He sacrificed his life for the citizens of Oakland, my beloved birthplace. Now the Oakland City Council has found ways to exclude her and another officer's widow from their pensions, namely that they didn't know any widow's that old, were still alive. The Oakland Tribune did an article this year on these "Left Out" widows. These Council members cannot even gather together for a forum to let the citizens of Oakland fix this mistake. They have been too busy with their travel accounts and slush funds. A memorial service for my father and other fallen officers is scheduled for May 4, 2010 in Oakland, California.

Yesterday was the 58th year without you. We still miss you. Our hearts still yearn for you. Your beautiful young bride is 83 now and was robbed of a lifetime without your affection and laughter. Thank you to Larry Lassiter's mother, for her hearfelt invitation and we share her grief. Just an update, the city of Oakland City Council again did not approve my mother's pension. She and another officer's widow were accidentally left out of the system to reinstate officer's widows. They didn't think there were any widows "that old". The Oakland Tribune did an article on this subject in 2009. Even with all the notariety, the City Council members would not reach a forum to correct this. They were too busy their big travel accounts and slush funds to pay respect to their fallen officer's widows. The next memorial service for my father is May 4, 2010 in Oakland, Ca. Goodnight Daddy Gene.

You are remembered and honored today, the 58th anniversary of your death. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for your service to your community and the citizens of California, and the supreme sacrifice you and your family made on November 18, 1951. Your family is in my heart's embrace today.

Rest In Peace

Dear Daddy Gene,
I needed to write to you again and to help me relate how I wished I could have experienced you when we were growing up with my sisters Debbie, Cindy and me (Pam). Uncle Louie took us fishing, camping everything you loved to do and he tried to be the father/uncle. He did a pretty good job too. You would have been pleased with your younger brother. I am widowed now, have a 38 year old son, a 3 year old grandson. My son was going to the Police Acaday in Fort Worth, Texas but I pleaded with him and his fiance to not do this for our selfish reasons even though you gave your young life to help others. These days people are not respectful for the services you all gave to us for free. One of these days soon dad, we can all be together.

email is [email protected] for any family/friends that want to get in touch.

Yesterday I attended the memorial service for your four fallen OPD brothers who were shot on the darkest day of OPD history.

To his daughter, I am so sorry you felt abandoned by your police friends. That should never be. Please join us at one of our northern California chapter of COPS (Concerns of Police Survivors) meeting. We would love to see you.
I am going to try to locate you. I can be reached by callling Sgt. Dupont at Pittsburg Police Dept.

Dear Daddy Gene,
Growing up without you was painful. I constantly thought of you and what would have been. I still have sweet memories of you and you happy loving ways. I am a Grandmother now, you have 7 great grandchildren from me and I have kept your memory alive. My son Tony, wanted to become a Police Officer, he was an MP in the Marines, but we couldn't take the pain of losing him too. He has become a bioengineer in the medical field. They could have saved you if your tragic accident occured today. We grew up abandoned by your police friends.
