My grandmother, Helen Cantwell Andraschko, was engaged to Patrolmen Olsen at the time of his murder in 1925. Her sister, Lauretta Olsen, was married to Patrolmen Olsen's brother, John Olsen, also a Chicago Policeman. Officer John Olsen's son (Harold) and daughter Marilynn Olsen O'Regan) were also Chicago police officers. At the time she retired, Marilynn Olsen O'Regan was Deputy Superintendent O'Regan, the highest ranking female officer at the time. Patrolmen Olsen is not forgotten and has lived on through all the family that has followed in his footsteps.

Thinking of Harold Olson’s family today, on the 97th anniversary of his death. He was a young man who was taken from us too soon. He may be long gone, but he is not forgotten.

My grandfather (Detective William Sweeney) was the officer who returned fire killing Mike “The Devil” Genna and arresting the hit men (murdering savages) Scalise and Anselmi whom Capone would later kill with a baseball bat at a black tie dinner. A Hollywood version of this killing is in the movie “The Untouchables”.
RIP officers Walsh and Olsen! My grandfather was bribed ($25,000) and when this was refused his apartment bombed but he testified nonetheless in order to see justice for these two fallen officers but Capone’s bribing of the jurists allowed the killers to go free.

I was shocked to see Officer Olsen's picture - looks almost exactly like my dad. He had talked about Officer Olsen several times, Dad being a nephew. You are one of the reasons Dad became an Officer, and several other family members followed the tradition.
You may be gone but NOT forgotten. You are a hero, I wanted to pay my respects.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.
GOD Bless

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 87th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
