Your heroism and service is honored today, the 143rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Deputy O'Conner, you are apparently the first in a proud line of Portland peace officers who made a sacrifice of their own being, trying to keep others safe from fear in the Rose City. Thank you for doing a job that most couldn't do, and even fewer are willing to do. I salute your bravery and honor your name. Rest easy, know that your deeds are not in vain, that others still keep your trust and continue your good works.
