Because the choices I have made in my life I have been on both sides of the law, I have noticed over the years the The courageous men and women that serve the public as police sheriff and emergency responders are just like anyone else, dads moms, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters, uncles and aunts. when these people are no longer in our lives we seem to feel that sense of abandonment, and helplessness. What is life like when there is no one to turn to for help when we have reached the end of the rope? I can tell you it feels like a man hanging from the tree with the noose around his neck, I know this because I am feeling that way now. With all my family and loved ones deserting me I am left with a empty soul and really no where to turn. I want to be that man my children can be proud of, and feel like no will help me. What keeps me going is the Father I want to become and desire to carry on. So just think where you would be if the people in your life never made it home? would you have the strength to carry on? We respect the men and women that have been chosen to lead us on our journey and have been given the power of authority by us to keep us safe and sound. If these men and women continue to to abide by the oath they have taken then we will continue to respect them knowing that they will give their lives if necessary for public safety and security. help these men and women continue to arrive home alive and well with all their bearings intact.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 91rst anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

No fallen officer deserves to be without a reflection. I am honored to be the first to leave one.
Your life, Sheriff Nugent, shall never be forgotten. Thank you for your service.
