Isaac Thomas Moore

Patrolman Isaac Moore was shot and killed when he and other officers stopped an automobile with one headlight on Highway 117, near Goldsboro

As Patrolman Moore stepped onto the car's running board shots followed. Shot in the head and chest, Patrolman Moore died shortly after arrival at a Goldsboro hospital. Other officers returned fire as two men ran from the car. The bullet-riddled body of one was found in a ditch about a mile from the scene. The 45 caliber pistol used to kill Patrolman Moore was found beside his body. The other suspect, brother of the dead man, was apprehended several hours later.

Patrolman Moore had served with the North Carolina Highway Patrol for two years. He was survived by his wife and mother.
