David E. Miller

Detective David Miller was killed in an automobile crash during a pursuit on Sunset Avenue at 2:10 am.

Detective Miller observed men get into an altercation resulting in a hit-and-run and gave pursuit. He was attempting to get them to slow down when his truck hit the vehicle, causing him to veer off of the roadway and strike a utility pole.

Detective Miller was a United States Marine Corps veteran and served with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office for seven years. He is survived by his expectant wife and two daughters.
