William B. Lockett

City Marshal William Lockett was shot and killed while following three suspicious men.

Marshal Lockett observed three men get out of a vehicle near Pritchard’s Garage, which had been burglarized several times recently.

He followed the men and shortly witnesses heard a man yell "you've been following us long enough," then heard two shots. Marshal Lockett fired two shots from his rifle at his assailants before being fatally shot.
