Thomas J. Kling

Lieutenant Thomas Kling and Officer John Baxter were shot and killed after responding to a shots fired call at a local store. The store owner had long terrorized his neighbors and police and had setup an ambush for the officers. When Officer Baxter and Lieutenant Kling entered the store they were shot and killed.

The suspect was convicted of manslaughter in the deaths of both officers and sentenced to 4 years in prison.

Lieutenant Kling had previously served with the United States Army during the Spanish American War.

On today, the 120th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during the Spanish-American War.
