Night Policeman Charles King died from injuries received August 27th 1910, when he was responding to the sounds of gunfire.

The shooting was being done by a drunk man who had gone to his estranged wife's house and started shooting.

Policeman King arrived at the scene and was questioning a 14-year-old girl when two more shots rang out. One of the shots the girl in the leg and the other struck King in the back. The man who fired the shots was arrested, convicted of murder, and subsequently executed by hanging.

Night Policeman was survived by his wife, daughter, and son.
