Roberto Martinez-Orozco

Officer Roberto Martinez-Orozco was shot and killed, while off duty, as he was attempting to stop two suspects from stealing $400 from a fast food restaurant in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico.

At approximately 3:55pm Officer Martinez-Orozco, who was in plain clothing, noticed a suspicious vehicle waiting in front of a restaurant and upon further inspection discovered two suspects committing an armed robbery. As Officer Martinez-Orozco approached the restaurant, and identified himself as a police officer, one of the suspects shot him, killing him instantly. All three suspects including the shooter were apprehended.

Officer Martinez-Orozco had served with the agency for 20 years and was assigned to the San Lorenzo District. He is survived by his wife and two children.
