John S. Jarmacz

Police Officer John Jarmacz died after being pushed from a moving paddy wagon while struggling with two suspects.

The suspects were being transported to the station with Officer Jarmacz riding in the back of the wagon with them. One of the prisoners attacked him with an artificial arm and pushed him from the wagon in the 300 block of East Genesee Street.

The man who pushed him from the wagon was charged with manslaughter and escape.

Officer Jarmacz was survived by his wife and one child.
