Patrolman James Ivory succumbed to injuries received in a motorcycle crash one year earlier when he struck a bump in the road and collided with a railroad track near Salem.

He was in and out of the hospital for the entire year before succumbing to his injuries. The exact date of the accident is unknown.

Patrolman Ivory had served with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for 2 years, assigned to the Salem Barracks and Columbus Barracks. He was survived by his mother and nine brothers and sisters.
