Fred Ivey

Police Officer Fred Ivey was shot and killed as he attempted to arrest a suspect that had just held up a drug store at gunpoint.

Officer Ivey located the suspect boarding a streetcar and then commandeered a passing car to follow it. At the next stop on Westlake Avenue, near Roy Street, Officer Ivey approached the coach and the man fatally shot him. The suspect fled the scene and was never identified.

Officer Ivey had served with the Seattle Police Department for 11 years. He was survived by his wife and two sons.
