Elmer Huddleston

Officer Huddleston was shot and killed when he and another officer stopped a vehicle at the intersection of South Third Street and La Salle Avenue. Officer Huddleston told the three occupants to get out of the car but one of the men grabbed a gun. He exchanged shots with Officer Huddleston and both men were fatally wounded. Officer Huddleston's partner also returned fire and the two other occupants were also wounded. Officer Huddleston was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

Officer Huddleston had been with the agency for five years.
