Daniel E. Hobbs

Officer Daniel Hobbs was killed when the patrol car he was riding in crashed into a patrol wagon at the entrance to the Berkley approach of the Norfolk-Berkley Bridge.

The vehicles collided in the area of State Street and Berkley Avenue as they responded to an accident. He was ejected from the patrol car, which then ran over him. A U.S. Navy Shore Patrol vehicle transported him to a local hospital where he died.

Officer Hobbs had served with the Norfolk Police Department for 27 years. He was survived by his wife, daughter, three stepdaughters, and two siblings.
