Deputy Sheriff Walter Harvey succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile crash on Old Highway 260 one mile northwest of Springerville, Arizona, while en route to Las Vegas, Nevada, to pick up a prisoner wanted in Harris County for burglary.
He was involved in a single-vehicle crash between 1:00 am and 2:00 am on November 2nd, 1962, but the wreckage wasn't discovered for several hours. He was transported to the hospital in Springerville where he succumbed to his injuries three days later.
Deputy Harvey was survived by his wife, daughter, mother, sister, and brother.
