Sergeant Charles Handorf was shot and killed while outside the home of a barricaded suspect at 6438 Home City in Cincinnati.

The suspect fired a shot as Sergeant Handorf crouched behind a stone wall, striking him in the head. Other officers returned fire and killed the suspect.

Sergeant Handorf had served with the Cincinnati Police Department for 22 years. He was survived by his wife, two daughters, two stepdaughters, one stepson, granddaughter, parents, five sisters, and six brothers. One brother also served with the Cincinnati Police Department.
