Edwin J. Halloran

Patrolman Edwin Halloran was injured when he tried to crank a car in front of the Sheffield Police Station, at the intersection of Sheffield Avenue and Diversey Parkway.

As he turned the crank handle it jerked backward striking his left arm causing a severe bruise. A few days later infection set in and his arm had to be amputated. He died from blood poisoning the next day.

Patrolman Halloran was survived by his wife, two daughters, son, and mother.
