He was my neighbor with his new wife
He worked on my bicycle for me and spent time talking with me. I was 12 at that time.
I was across the street from the gas station
( I just got a gallon of gas, for lawn mower)
On that day. . I saw the gunman shooting at and chasing his wife. Saw officer Hall running toward the scene and what happened. I believe it was Sargent Fink ( could be wrong on name ) take suspect into custody After hiding in the doorway, I believe it was a state liquor store. I walked to the police station and stood outside with a crowd of people. I was in shock I now realize. After what seemed like hours I wandered home. I told my Father what I had seen. He said to keep it to myself that they had plenty of grownups taking care of it.
It’s been along time ago and I think about him and his wife from time to time.
You were a kind and gentle person and I remember you with fondness
And Honor you duty and bravery. Plus the love for the people of Owego
