Patrolman Harry Grimes was struck and killed by an automobile while conducting a traffic stop on State Route 7 in Martins Ferry.
Patrolman Grimes was a United States Navy Reserve World War II veteran and had served with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for seven months, assigned to the Bridgeport Post. He was survived by his parents.
